Information Literacy as a Metaliteracy Presenter Questions

In two days time, there will be a presentation given by the key players of MOOC. I have read the article    Reframing Information Literacy as a Metaliteracy by Thomas P. Mackey and Trudi E. Jacobson and I have a few questions. First, how is Metaliteracy going to further my education on a personal basis? I frequently use social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram and I am being fed tons of visual and digital literacy. Can obtaining a better understanding of Metaliteracy open up Pandora's box and show me a new world of information that I haven't seen already? One that has been right in front of my face for years? This whole concept is very new to me. Once i transcend through the obstacles of learning how to properly blog and interpret articles, will I make an impact on other students and scholars? These are just few questions that I have and I am sure I will have plenty more after the presentation.
